Qualcomm has stated that it is struggling to keep up with
the iPad’s demand in producing the 28-nanometer chips, which leads us to expect
that Apple will be unable to have an earlier debut for its latest iPhone 5. If
Qualcomm fails to keep up with the demands for iPads now, then it would be
disadvantageous to launch the new iPhone so soon.
After Quallcomm CFO William Kietel has clarified that their
production goals are pretty high in the December quarter and that the
production would be “more meaningful” in September, most people are deducing
that the iPhone release date may be on October.
Aside from that, LTE isn’t generally accepted in areas
beyond US and Canada, which means the service is unavailable in the UK, except
probably for the bigger cities like London and Manchester. In fact, Apple has
offered refunds to Australian buyers since the new iPad does not support 4G LTE
network in their state, what with the Telstra Corp, Australia’s only 4G
operator, using a different 4G frequency. Apple will have to wait to make sure
that iPhone 5 can support LTE networks worldwide.
Moreover, the fact that Apple has not announced its iOS 6
yet indicates that it is not ready to launch iPhone 5. Usually it would release
OS upgrade during or before launching a new gadget. Now people are wondering if
iOS 6 will be having its debut at the WWDC.
